Well that’s interesting. I’ll have to keep my eye on that.
Just downloaded Preside on an M4 IPad Pro. Unfortunately it crashes at first run on iPadOS 26 dev beta 3. I’ll try again further down the Beta path.
I happily running Preside for over 5 years and mover had any issue. Of course I’m not running Beta ![]()
Fine here - beta 3 on an M1 11” iPad Pro
So shameless shill; I’ve been working on an email client for about a year to fill the Newton shaped hole in my heart since they went out of business in 2024.
It’s iOS and gmail only and strongly resembles Newton’s simple interface. It does have some strong opinions, though. There’s a single inbox for all your accounts and you can’t tag/label/delete/use folders at all really (there’s an inbox; you can archive from your inbox and search all mail). I built it for me. It may not be your flavor, but I figured I’d leave this here. It’s intentionally dumb. No AI features. I do intend to charge a modest amount eventually, but it’s not ready for that yet.
What about Canary Mail?
I tried Canary Mail 2 or 3 times and was disappointed each time (my memory is fuzzy on exactly why), but it’s been at least 5 years since the last time I tried it. Maybe it’s improved. I’d like to hear what others think.
I notice on their website that they now have AI ![]()
