New iPad purchasing dilemma. What I’m considering:
- m1 iPad Air 256GB
- m2 iPad Air 128GB (11in)
- 10th gen iPad 256GB
I’ll be replacing my 8th gen iPad 32GB, my first ever iPad and best I could afford at the time.
Main things I want to do with it are:
- mess around in GarageBand with running my guitar into it.
- blogging / note keeping
- photo editing RAW photos from my 6 year old canon camera (just for personal use, no client work)
- RSS reading
- Bible study in things like Logos and switching between Bible and reference apps
- web browsing
- casual gaming—puzzles, not first person shooters.
- watching YouTube, movies, TV
- FaceTime with family
- if possible I would play around with Final Cut Pro and davinci resolve, but I have my work computer for that, mainly just for hobbyist interests.
My current iPad does a lot of this, but lags throughout and obviously the storage is the biggest obstacle in using it. It’s always full, so I’m pretty sure that’s what makes it slow.
I’m kind of leaning towards the M1 because I just feel like getting an m-series chip will payoff in the long run. Even though I’m sure the 10th gen would be fine for everything but toying with resolve.
Budget is pretty much right at $500 which according to my latest research these configurations are pretty much right at that price. I should note that budget is factoring in selling my current iPad, with the Logitech keyboard case, Smart Cover and dumb stylus, as a combo package, think I could get a better offer than just what Apple is offering for the bare iPad ($105).
Thanks in advance!
