iPad for Zoom in Home Study on a Rainy Day

Still on that matter: if the MacBook is placed as further as the iPad currently stands, shouldn’t your nostrils be at a safe non lockable distance and the iPad look less obtrusive than a lid up MacBook at you frame?

My nostril comment was a bit “tongue in cheek,” :slightly_smiling_face: but because I wear progressive glasses, I tend to tilt my head to see clearly at some distances. This is one reason elevating the iPad, or any screen, is helpful when on a Zoom call. As to the “life up MB at your frame,” I arrange it so that those on the call do not see the lid at all, they only see me, for better or worse!

The ideal solution is to purchase an external display to use in my home study. But, given the decor I’m striving for, I’d prefer to avoid the display. Another option would be an external keyboard. That way, I could put the iPad in split few while elevated and using the Keyboard to take notes. Do this would enable me to move the iPad closer to me.

right shelf, second row, far right end, brown with red box, two volumes… banner of truth editions of the Works of Jonathan Edwards?

You are very observant. And, I also have the full set of John Owen. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ve got Owen too
But I confess vol 10 is all I’ve read. I got the set during a Banner Black Friday sale

No worries, it’s just a little “light“ reading. :joy:

Volume 1 on the glories of Christ is worth the weight of reading. I have read and re-marked it 3x.

You’re motivated me to reread Vol 1. :slightly_smiling_face:

In reading the introduction to Vol 1, specially, Life of Dr. Owen by Andrew Thomson, I was drawn to this pearl of wisdom: “The men who have lived the most earnestly for their own age, have also lived the most usefully for posterity.”

The portion I re-marked 3x started on page 285-461.

Owen’s definition of revival. " … that a steady spiritual view of the glory of Christ by faith, will give them a gracious revival from inward decays, and fresh springs of grace, even in their latter days." (432-433). “Herein all revivals and all flourishings are contained. To have a good measure of conformity unto Christ is all whereof in this life we are capable: the perfection of it is eternal blessedness. … Let us live in the constant contemplation of the glory of Christ, and virtue will proceed from him to repair all our decays, to renew a right spirit within us, and to cause us to abound in all duties of obedience.” (460).

Enjoy …

It may be time for a new topic: What works of Christian theology have you read?

Our apologies, I’m not sure how we got on this subject. I think it was a comment about books in my office. We’ll move from theology to tech, though sometimes tech is “sold” with Messianic fervor. :slightly_smiling_face:

I didn’t mind it, I was just teasing you all a bit. I’m glad your spiritual path speaks deeply to you.

That’s kind, thank you, but I want to honor the purpose this forum. I want to be a good citizen. :slightly_smiling_face:

Great thread, also nice to see a bit of a broader discussion (still relevant as was in the photo) with some respectful banter. Gives me faith that this forum is one of a few safe havens.

I find that my iPad (trusty old iPad Pro M1 12.9" from 2021) is the most stable video call platform that I have, however I often need to share content or my screen, this is where the dream falls apart. I know that I can share my screen on iPad to video calls, problem is then I don’t have the broader attendee view etc.

I tried for a while, using my iPad for my audio and video, whilst joining on my MacBook to do any screen sharing. Problem is that I was looking down at my screen whilst sharing, avoiding the main benefit of having my iPad up high. It was also fiddly to join each call twice and get it all setup and working properly.

So I’ve gone back to using my MacBook Pro with an external monitor with a WebCam on-top.

PS - I’ve also been using Universal Control quite a bit, and tried to put the iPad (on a stand) so it was positioned above my MacBook (more for mobile workspace). Sadly Universal Control doesn’t allow for positioning of the iPad above the MacBook screen, so this didn’t work out so well. Bit of a shame.
