I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max and need a new case (my current one has cracked)
I’m in the UK, but was wondering what brands other people recommend.
I prefer a shell case (leather or plastic). I don’t like silicon, especially if it’s tacky (not slippy) as I slide my phone in and out of my jeans pockets.
No flaps to cover the screen, I also use MagSafe. Caseless or the back covers are not an option as I tend to drop my phone.
My preference is something like this.
But with the above caveats I’m open to look at anything.
I recently purchased a Gripmunk with MagSafe case for my iPhone 16 Pro Max after reading about this product on Wirecutter.
I’ve been very happy with it. True to its name, it’s easy to grip. And it slides in and out of pockets easily. I also appreciate the subtle notches on the sides; they make it easier to hold my iPhone and provide tactile cues that help me locate the buttons without looking.
FWIW, I’ve been pleased with the Apple clear case on my iPhone 16 Pro. And I’ve not heard any complaints from my brother who uses the same case on his iPhone16 Pro Max.
I used this case for my iPhone 15 Pro Max and it is perfect. It has worn well and feels great. There is no bottom lip on the front of the case, so swiping up is much easier. It looks like they added a lip to the 17 cases, not sure about the 16.
I think this thing does a great job. OTOH, I’m not particularly fussy. It does its job, provides additional function I want, gives me no grief. It’s more than I would normally pay for, but I’m pretty sure I got some discount when I bought it.
I am a big fan of aramid fibre cases like Pitkaka or Benks. Very slim but still protective (within limits). For my pitaka case I just find the magnets a bit weak and the camera protection a bit pointy.
I purchased a SPIGEN case when I upgraded to my 16PM. Charcoal colored plastic with a yellow shock absorbing material inside all corners. Still in great shape 16 months later.
