iPhone dictation reduces volume of Music app

If I’m listening with the iPhone Music app and press the dictate button on the keyboard to put something in Drafts or Notes, the music pauses, and after I press the dictate button to end dictation, the music resumes, but at about half the volume.

I read that it could be caused by the Accessibility “audio ducking” feature, but I checked and it was turned off.

Any ideas what I can do to deal with this?

I’ve noticed this a number of times but I don’t think its just with dictation. Or perhaps it was? No explanation still.

I’ve discovered that in my case, this is only happening when I connect to one specific Bluetooth speaker, so I’ll head down that rabbit hole.
