iPhone/iPad apps for Apple Silicon Macs? Other must-have apps?

I have finally joined the 2020s and upgraded from a 2018 Intel MacBook to a 2024 MacBook Air.

I know that one of the features of the Apple Silicon Macs is that they will run iPhone and iPad apps. But I can’t think of any I want to run, other than Linky, which is a pretty specialized utility (and I don’t even know whether it will run on the Mac).

Are there any iPhone or iPad apps you like to run on your Apple Silicon Mac?

Any other Mac apps you recommend that require Apple Silicon?

Overcast iPad app works on the Mac.

Although I don’t listen to podcasts on my laptop, this is actually intriguing.

I know a few people who use Overcast on the Mac.

I don’t listen to podcasts on the Mac but it might be helpful to have it there to add new podcasts.

I regularly use Overcast on the Mac and find it works well (though a native Mac app would be preferable).

  • Authy for 2FA (since they discontinued their macOS app – but the iPad app works great)
  • Crossy Road (for an occasional game every now and then, works great using the keyboard)
