Is anyone else having trouble with the Ice menu bar manager?

Just wondering. I am using Ice on two Mac. One is on Tahoe 26.5; the other has not yet been upgraded to Tahoe.

On the Tahoe machine, when I run Ice, the appropriate icon appears in the menu bar. I can control click on it to get to the configuration/setup window. But, if I click on the icon itself to see the hidden menu bar items, Ice appears to crash. No error messages pop up; it just disappears and the menu bar goes back to its default MacOS state.

I was wondering if anyone had seen this and/or had any ideas. From the setting window, checking for updates indicates I have the latest version. It may be time to look for something else …

Thanks.

I used Ice late last year for a few months, and gave up because it was so buggy, wouldn’t maintain the menu bar configuration from one session to another, froze regularly.

Check out Thaw?

Ice basically was abandoned by its developer.

It has been forked and it is under active development as “Thaw”:

I have been using it for months now.

I suppose it depends on your very specific needs, but I now control the menu bar via the inbuilt controls in Tahoe. Work perfectly fine for my needs with a couple of tweaks with apps from Sindre Sorhus: https://sindresorhus.com

I use his Menu Bar Spacing (free) and Spaced (free). Tahoe OS does most of the work for me, but those other 2 free apps work perfectly for me to fine tune things.
