"Is Apple the New Microsoft"?

Apple hasn’t forgotten. I’m surprised that I’m allowed to run Sequoia on my M4 MBA.

On which Platform?

I’ve not seen that and am genuinely interested.

You only need Security Updates and System Files

I know, I just don’t like control being removed out of my hands without my input. I wouldn’t mind if they gave me a dialogue, but no, they need to auto install. And who decides what becomes necessary to install?

Goodbye Wallet.

I understand your concern, but when it comes to security updates I install them immediately. Things have changed since the days when we laughed at Windows users with all their patches and antivirus programs.

There are new vulnerabilities discovered on apple devices almost every day. iOS 26.3 included 40+ security patches. That’s less than the number in some updates in recent months.

I’m fed up with Apple pushing me to upgrade to Tahoe, but I have no problem with them insisting on security updates.

On the other hand, LibreOffice doesn’t work “exactly perfect” on my M2 Air. It’s not the speed of its working. It’s the user interface - when I put my cursor over a toolbar button there’s a black square earlier versions did not do this. If I switch to a different theme like the blue office 97 theme, it’s fine.

There haven’t been many Mac specific developers working on LibreOffice (as far as I know). The Document Foundation just hired a UI/UX developer who has experience working on Mac software. Once he gets the Macintosh version better, he’ll be working on the other builds.

Another consideration is the complexity of the documents I actually work on (simple) versus the complexity of LibreOffice itself. I keep wanting to use the old iWork suite but softmaker office is just so much tinier and faster.
