Is it possible to automate a "dumb" air con?

I have a “dumb” air con that works very well, and that I don’t want to replace since I only need it for two months a year.
It’s one of the Electrolux Chill Flex models, and it has a smartish IR remote control, so I think there should be possible to automate it with an IR adapter, but I can’t find anything on the web about automating it.

Is it possible to use some sort of plugin to Homebridge that can do this without me having to manually write software? I’m willing to “train” something, or write workflows, but having to write, debug and then maintain something is something I don’t have the time or energy for at this time.

Would a smart plug simply do the trick? I automate a few dumb lights that way.

No, it just goes to standby

Have a look at Flair.
Their pucks have IR capabilities and can control many devices, such as a DeLonghi portable AC we have, as well as a portable heater.

Excellent - this looks perfect!

I’m ordering one right away, it should work fine

Huh, turns out there’s a whole category of these - I had no idea.
Damnit, now I have to research and choose one.

I have a Sensibo too and couldn’t be happier with it.
