Yes, you would want to look at something like https://keepassium.com/ which lets you use KeePass password management on multiple devices using ResilioSync, which is decentralized sync.
Thanks for the pointer, Iāll look into it (although I hated KeePass last time I tried it).
Tradeoffs. Iām certainly sympathetic to the features you want. Itās just hard to do a full product well, for years, on the margins, apparently, when the market prefers encrypted cloud sync.
If you are running the standalone version of 1password, itās up to you to determine if or how your data is synced.

Hereās some additional info on 1PW Security:
However, if you donāt want to use a cloud service only the WLAN server is an option to sync between devices (unless you set up a NAS?).
A fairly limited one:
- The WLAN server canāt sync a mobile device to multiple computers.
- The WLAN server canāt sync two or more computers.
- The WLAN server canāt sync two or more mobile devices directly.
- The WLAN server isnāt available in 1Password 6 or later on Windows.
From the cloud services 1Password.com might be the safest due to the enhanced security of your Secret Key (not available for iCloud or Dropbox).
I did look into this option and it seems KeePassium only kinda works with Resilio Sync. Also the $ investment is a bit steep.
Resilio Sync looks interesting. Iām gonna continue to look for other possible use cases for it. Thanks again for the idea.
Meanwhile Iāll keep chugging along with 1Password, at least while the standalone version continues to be available.
A feature like 1PWX is impossible without server storage. They also choose to do this in the most secure fashion available. I rely on having access to my passwords even on guest machines. While Iād prefer to have all my passwords local-only, the convenience beats the added security benefits for me. Itās great to have a choice and to be able to make a conscious decision about it!
I use 1p family and itās been great to have shared vaults. I havenāt looked at any other service to see if thatās even possible.
1password encryption and security model is crazy good. They donāt have access to your passwords in any way. There have a really good whitepaper: https://1password.com/files/1Password-White-Paper.pdf and they also talk about it in their support pages: https://support.1password.com/sync-options-security/ https://support.1password.com/1password-security/
The latest version of 1Password (7.7) combined with the latest version of Safari provides far more integration than earlier versions and seems much faster as well. Try it out if you have stopped using it.
I donāt use Safari as my primary browser but it does seem that the integration is much better. Kudos to the team.
In my primary browser of Brave, the 1p X extension seems pretty good. My current annoyance is that because I use multiple profiles, that I have to enter my master pass into each profile. I might go back to the OG extension
