Is there a file manager that wraps long file names?

The Minimal Theme Settings plugin for Obsidian has a setting to toggle off “trim long file names.” When you do, long file names simply wrap onto the next line(s) to show the whole name of every file in the Obsidian File Explorer, even though it’s a narrow column in the left sidebar. It’s great!

Too bad Finder doesn’t have that option, especially in column view.

Does anyone know of a dedicated file manager that can do that?

How long are those filenames? I have seen Forklift’s “Always resize name column” option but it does not mean it will wrap the filenames into the column.

On the other hand, I guess you are aware that, in Finder’s column view, clicking on the || glyph on the bottom of the scrollbar tries to resize the column to the maximum name width.

Thanks, but I don’t mean resizing the column to accommodate long file names, which is common.

I mean wrapping the names so you can see the whole file name even when the column is too short to show it all on one line.

Where is this glyph?

Here:

Hover the cursor over the small line, and it will change to the glyph shown in the red oval.

Although, perhaps this is a different glyph. as it is not at the bottom of the scroll bar?

(I can’t find that one either.)

Found it!

Your column view does not look like mine. I am running Sonoma. I am not sure whether this is some setting but I cannot find it. My columns are separated by thin lines that have no room for a glyph.

Can you check these settings in “Preferences > Appearance”? I had it in “Automatically” in my work computer and the glyph did not appear.

Thanks for your input. This seems to be the answer.

System Settings / Appearance

Show Scroll Bars:

I have the Preference set to “Automatically based …”

If I use “Always” then I see the glyph and the thicker separating verticals.
