I’m helping a client to move all their work to a cloud based solution with calender, word editor, spreadsheet, tasks etc.
Mixed OS’s, mostly Macs.
Do Pages and Numbers online really stand a chance, or is Google Workspace the right choice here?
If privacy is a concern I’d suggest going with something like OnlyOffice.com, perhaps in combination with Mailbox.org.
I don’t think I’d ever recommend Google for anything.
I don’t usually have the need. My family does a spreadsheet that we share on Google. My church does a few things with it. I hate to use it because I do not trust them.
I just looked at apple support. Non mac os’s can view but not edit numbers spreadsheets in iCloud online.
You certainly have to consider Microsoft 365 as you have a mixed environment and you want “cloud”. I don’t think Apple’s Pages and Numbers work on anything but Mac.
Pages and Numbers are consumer products that may be fine for a small business/family all Mac environment.
Apple is Google’s largest corporate cloud storage customer, and it appears Apple may use Gemini to power its new Siri digital assistant. Google Workspace is a business solution, and should not be confused with free Gmail, etc.
+1
My former employer considered both Microsoft and Google before selecting Google Workspace several years ago. It’s worth your time to consider both.
We use Google Workspace and it’s excellent. MS is way too much maintenance. Google just lets you get on with your work. It works well on all devices. We’ve had no issues and no complaints.
How about Pages - Apple iCloud, that should work? (ie word editor on the cloud)
I am soo tired of 365, having maintained it for a client a couple of years. Too expensive and to much hassle (especially with Outlook). If MS just could get their shit together it would be a better world. ![]()
The main reason I ask is actually if there has been progress for Apple in this area. I guess not. ![]()
Apple walked away from business services in 2011 when they ended the Xserve. I would be surprised if they tried to re-enter that market. Today their success is based on the iPhone, and making great, general purpose, computers.
