Journal app in upcoming releases - Mac and iPad

I’ve just installed the betas on my mac and ipad and iphone, and I was pleased to notice that the journal app runs on MacOs as well as iPadOS. I haven’t used the iphone version becasue it was only on the iPhone, but now that it’s on all three OSs I will give it a shot.

(Sharing this because I didn’t realise it was going to be on the Mac)

Have they updated it in this latest iteration? I tried to use it, but found it really limiting on the iPhone.

There didn’t seem to be any way to get other diary app entries imported, or export entries from Journal. Navigation seems to be just scrolling, with no calendar view. It would suggest that you wrote about an event on an earlier date yet saved it as today’s date.

I thought it a bit of a mess to be honest, and I really wanted it to work for me.

I found it interesting with this on the horizon that Day One finally released a Windows App. Probably to mitigate their losses getting Sherlocked.

If you click on the three-dot menu, there’s a sorting option to sort by moment date (which is what you are referring to) vs entry date (which is the day you wrote the entry).

Thanks for responding, but what I meant was a calendar view where you can see the entries of a whole month or a year, not unlike this one.

Ah okay. Yeah that’s not there.

Good news. I don’t use current iPhone version as well because no Mac companion. Means I can get rid of another subscription app :+1:

I just want to complain here — using the Journal app with the Apple Pencil on the 2018 iPad Pro (the oldest model supporting IPadOS 26 :P) is almost impossible. There’s a huge lag between the pencil’s movement and the moment the writing actually appears. I’m not sure about other apps, but the Apple Pencil in Apple Notes still works perfectly (and even in apps with custom toolboxes, like Nebo, it works just as well).
