I’ve been doing various presentations over the last year and I am looking for a way to make things more efficient and modular.
Imagine there are 10 Sections to a Presentation, each section has about a dozen slides. For any given presentation I am presenting 3 to 4 of the sections. I’ve been copy and pasting into a new slidedeck but that’s not efficient from a maintenance perspective if I want to edit one slide, I have to edit it in multiple presentations.
Is there a way to have a KeyNote of other smaller Keynotes?
It’s not quite as cut and dry as listed though, sometimes I just want half of the slides in one section. So in an ideal world I could have it setup so there’s one keynote with 200 slides total. And a toggle checkbox with one for each of the different presentations I might do.
Clicking the checkbox would hide all of the slides not pre-defined for that presentation so I could practice the presentation right there and go through it without seeing the other slides. And any updates I make will apply to all future presentations that have a different mix of the 200 slides.
Maybe some kind of an export macro that I might predetermine Slides 7, 19, 22, 27, etc are in DECK A, and Slides 7, 8, 11, 15, etc are DECK B and then I can just export the desired slides to a new keynote file.
If you have a master deck of all slides divided into sections, can you not just select the individual slides using Command-Click to create a group and drag that into the sidebar of a blank Keynote to create a new deck of slides. Or shift click to select a contiguous group and drag. Or, if you’ve created a nested group of slides you can drag the top level slide to drag the whole group.
I guess I’m thinking if you’re using that master deck of updated slides to select slides to create new decks as needed it’s just as easy to select them and drag into an empty presentation?
That’s kinda what I do right now but the slides are constantly in flux and being changed and iterate on because it’s technology related topics.
So the issue becomes I duplicate off the main slide deck, but then as I’m reviewing and prepping the subset of duplicated slides, I come up with changes that now I have to manually make back to the main slide deck.
And sometimes I’m doing multiple different presentations over a short time frame so I realize I need to make changes to multiple slide decks at once to update the same slide.
In a perfect world it would be something like Obsidian where each slide would be a dynamic link to the main deck.
In PowerPoint, you can also create “Custom slide shows” that display a subset of the slides in your deck. For instance, using a base deck and customise it for different audiences. I believe this would suit your use case, if you’re willing to use PowerPoint
