I’m dealing with a sudden drop in disk space on my MBA 2020 running an M1 chip OS 12.6. Storage management lists a huge number of dyld_shared_cache files, many of them taking up around 1 GB. Customer support at Apple urged me to delete them—I’ve done a few. But I’m wondering what they are, why they accumulate, and what I can put in place so this doesn’t keep happening. Clicking on one reveals a short block of text that shows login times (some recent), saving session, copying shared history, truncating history files…completed. What’s to know here?
