Lawyers of MPU: get us gather and discuss case analysis

Hello to lawyers of MPU.

This is only my second post. I was blown away by the response to my first so I thought I’d try again.

This time it’s more niche.

I’m a lawyer in the UK. For a number of years I have been on the hunt for decent case analysis software for Mac. I’ve used CaseMap on Windows and anyone who’s used it will know how clunky it is and, let’s be honest, dated.

What I’m after is software that will easily permit the input of data to create chronological documents for analysis (chronologies and sub-chronologies based on certain criteria) and link that to things such as a witness list.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Grateful for the input of the hive mind.

Thank you for reading.

There’s a suite of iPad apps that many people really like, but they aren’t macOS AFAIK.

Do you want legal-specific software? Because Aeon Timeline could probably do this, but then so could Tinderbox (trick answer, Tinderbox can do anything if you know how).

Thanks for the response. Do you happen to know what the iPad apps are called?

Lit Suite. David posted about it here.

I believe that Curio is being used by some lawyers. The recent version 15 has made a great improvement in the ability to show in presentation mode through an iPad (not USING an iPad). I’m somewhat keen on this advancement as it improves my ability to do lecture demonstrations where I can a) create in Curio, b) display from Curio, and c) annotate over the presentation using my iPad. The latter happens using an app called EpicPen.

I currently use Airtable for case analysis. They have a legal case analysis template that I tweaked to suit my needs.

There’s also https://www.casefleet.com if you want something specifically for lawyers. I haven’t tried it so I don’t know if it’s any good.

Commercially, there is also Factbox, www.getfactbox.com.

My needs haven’t justified the full on commercial product(s) yet. I use an Airtable database too.
