Lifetime license of Microsoft Office for MacOS $49

Now, that angle I hadn’t thought of. I stand corrected.

My employer has Microsoft 365, but only the web based versions of the applications. I purchased a ‘one off’ discounted licence for the Mac and it has worked great, allowing me to use desktop applications alongside my employer’s space and subscriptions.

I use Outlook all the time - which I never expected to say having used previous versions of it! It’s the best mail client I’ve used recently and (obviously) integrates well with Exchange email and (less obviously) Gmail. I don’t use Word a lot, but when I do it does the job and is the de facto standard for virtually everyone I work with. I really tried to love LibreOffice, but the whole design always felt clunky and some features, like mail merge, downright painful. Pages just doesn’t work if you’re regularly exchanging files with non-Apple users.

If I have to buy a new licence when I get a new Mac I won’t be too disappointed; I’ve got my money’s worth.
