After struggling with this for months, I wondered if anyone else has experienced this, and if so if you have found a solution. Or perhaps it is just a quirk of my setup.
I have:
- a macbook Pro M3 Max running Sequoia (Public beta 2, but the issue was present also on the non-beta and on the previous OS)
- connected to an external monitor via USB-C, in clamshell mode
- magic keyboard + logitech mouse (but also same issue with the trackpad)
- iPadPro M4 11’’
When I choose from Settings > Display > Link keyboard and mouse to iPad (WiFi, not cable, but keep it very close), everything works fine… for a while. Sometimes the connection would remain for a couple of hours, other times it would disconnect every 15 minutes or so. Overall it is very unreliable. In addition a couple of times a week macOS would forget the arrangement of the displays and would randomly reposition the iPad either to the left or right (I keep it centered under main display).
The disconnection occurs even when the iPad display is always on, so it’s not due to the iPad getting locked. I’ve tried rebooting both devices, running both official releases and betas of both OSs, different keyboards and mouse/trackpads - there doesn’t seem to be any difference. So at this point I’m at my wits ends. Is Universal Control just so buggy or is there maybe something wrong with my devices? Have others experienced this? I’d appreciate any input, even if it is just “works perfectly fine for me”.
