Anyone have a good recommendation for a good office chair. I would like one where the seat pan is adjustable by sliding in and out, and where the arms can be raised to get them out of the way I would also like it to be able to recline and extend a leg rest so that I can relax back and dictate a rough draft or meditate.
Sorry for being so picky.
I have looked for someone on Temu and Amazon, but it’s hard to buy without being able to sit in them.
I am 6 foot 3 And weigh about 220 pounds.
I would love something sturdy.
Right now, the spring for the back rest on my current chair is not firm enough to hold me upright and does not have good lumbar support.
I’m old and need a little bit more of a butt cushion. I am currently sitting on two Tempur-pedic chair cushions.
When I was young, my requirements were a lot less.
The Herman Miller Aeron remastered was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I bought it before for $1007 taxed/shipped from Smart Furniture when they were in business (RIP!).
I would recommend size C for you. It’s expensive but damn every time I sit in this chair I say “ahhhh…”
Bit of a non-answer, sorry, but do you have an office furniture liquidator near you? They usually have quality office chairs you can try, and buy at a discount if one sits just right.
The reclining and foot rest is going to be a problem in finding something good. I’ve been a Steelcase chair fan for years. We needed some new chairs a couple of years ago and picked up a pair of Steelcase Leaf chairs from a guy that bought a bunch of office furniture from places shut down due to COVID. $1600 chairs that I got for $200 each. Been really happy with them. My previous Steelcase chair lasted for over 30 years until the suspension went out. Cost more to fix than it was worth.
Buy the absolute best chair you can afford, IMO. You didn’t mention how much time you spend in your office, but the more hours per day, the more you should spend. Anything from a big box retailer isn’t meant for serious use, so if you’re sitting in it for more than a couple hours a day, steer clear of them.
Steelcase, Herman Miller, and Hayworth all make top quality chairs that will likely outlast your needs. You can often find them used for more reasonable prices.
Recently bought a HermanMiller Cosm chair. Should have done it years ago. For a decade I had been using an old garden chair with its cushion and a phsyio wedge but while okay it was nowhere near as confortable as the Cosm.
I bought a Steelcase Series 1, I’ve found it excellent - very comfortable and strong enough for my needs (I like to bend the chair waaaaaay back when I’m “thinking”).
I bought it second hand on eBay - at a very good price because I suppose not many people know the name in the UK.
