I have to say, I thought consolidating all the non-BT peripherals into the CalDigit dock would be a nice upgrade, but the one thing that was not even on my radar was freeing up the wall wart too. I forgot that the TB3 cable carried the juice too. Just a quick click of the “Eject All” shortcut in the dock, and a disconnect of one mere cable and the laptop is mobile.
I did have to order a longer TB cable though, as my underdesk connection area is just a bit too far away to be accommodated by a 0.8m cable.
This looks nice. My setup isn’t much different except I don’t use any peripherals input devices, and the TB cable awkwardly comes from the side at a 90 degree angle. I’ve tried “L” shaped TB adapters
to get the cable close to parallel with my macbooks’s right side, but they break quickly.
