Mac mini 2018 with macOS Sequoia: Smooth Sailing or Beachball Bonanza

Hello! I am thinking about throwing macOS Sequoia onto my trusty 2018 Mac mini with its 3.2GHz, 6-core Intel i7 16GB —am I in for a smooth ride, or should I buckle up for a slow-motion rollercoaster of beachballs and frustration?

“To those who’ve installed macOS 18.0, what are you noticing performance-wise? Is the fan kicking in less than usual?”

On my two M1 machines, no notable difference at all.
But I very rarely hear the fans anyway.

No noticeable difference in performance on my 2020 iMac or 2019 MacBookPro.

No issues with my M1 Air

Mac Mini M2 Pro. Sequoia is VERY laggy, slow, noticeably higher CPU usage. There’s also audio glitching with XM5 bluetooth headphones.

In hindsight, I would still upgrade, since I LOVE iPhone mirroring!!

If Sonoma is working ok for you, I don’t think you will notice a significant difference because most of the stuff that would be hard for an Intel CPU will be disabled.
