MacBook Air 15 inch M2 (2023)

I’m sure this has been covered here, but a quick search didn’t find anything. I’m trying to keep my MacBook in clamshell as a home machine most of the time. This is mainly to avoid buying a Mac mini right now. I’m a Setapp subscriber, and I’m using AlDente Pro to keep the battery healthy. Is there a better solution I’m not aware of? Am I just being scared of cooking my battery for no reason?

Thanks for any input you may have!

If you can live with a limit at e.g. 85% then Al Dente is good. I’ve given up on that after a few years and now I just accept that I’ll need to replace a battery after a few years. It’s nice to be able to start using the device away from my desk and be at 95% after a short while rather than 79% :slightly_smiling_face:

Apple’s batteries and their management in the OS are far better than they used to be. Apple accepts that a significant portion of their user base are going to use their laptops while plugged in.

I wouldn’t worry about it being plugged in most of the time, and I’d expect at least 4 or 5 years of good battery life before needing to replace the battery.
