This video may be of interest to those considering the MBN.
This is indeed interesting — thanks for sharing!
While I don’t think he’s wrong about an iPad being the better choice if content consumption is your main use, I find the main test case he uses to criticize the Neo kind of odd.
Who tries to play a video game and edit in Final Cut Pro at the same time?
And as he notes, you can edit in FCP on the Neo, as long as you’re not trying to do a bunch of other stuff simultaneously.
To be fair, anyone who’s routinely working in FCP would be better served by an Air or Pro.
Agreed. I think he was a bit over the top. What he was attempting to do, I believe, was push the machine to its limits to see what it is capable of doing. For most people who buy this machine, however, the use case is probably light work, email, web surfing, and content consumption. In that case, the iPad might indeed be the better choice. As always, it comes down to what you are attempting to do with the hardware.
That he finds using all available RAM to be a problem rather than a feature tells me all that I need to know about this guy. This is the typical junk clickbait that gets put out by people who need clicks to make money.
I’m so tired of reviewers who review the iPad in contrast to the MacBook, and now vice versa with the Neo being reviewed against the iPad. They have overlapping use cases but there are times when even a very low end Mac is miles better than the best iPad, and times when a low end iPad is better than a Mac.
Completely agree, but for someone who does occasional editing, or isn’t concerned about the time something takes, MBN will do a job.
It’s more likely that someone using a MBN would probably use iMovie
I’m hoping the next iteration of the Neo is where Apple rolls out the “Cellular Mac”
