macOS client for chatting with LLMs via API

Lately, I’ve been looking for a good macOS app for chatting with different AIs via API. I’ve checked out a few options, but nothing’s quite right:

  • Zed – A great code editor, but not a dedicated chat app.
  • macai – The closest thing I’ve found, but there aren’t many reviews, and I’m hesitant to try it.
  • Geeps – Another good contender.

What I’m looking for is a native macOS client that:

  • Lets me chat with different AIs (via API)
  • Tracks my spending (e.g., to see if I’m hitting my $20/month OpenAI limit—I’ve been using it less lately)

I think this was discussed here before, but I can’t find the thread. Does anyone know of any good apps for this?

I enjoy MindMac. It has a rather limited free trial, so you could try it out without having to buy right away.

You do have to bring your own API key.
