macOS Tahoe 26: Hazel icon on every external drive?

Since upgrading to macOS Tahoe 26 all my external drives are displayed with a Hazel icon…

Hazel

Can I fix this as a user? Or is this a bug Apple (or the author of Hazel) needs to fix?

I see this too and think it’s a bug that Apple has to fix. It was some other app before it was Hazel for me.

It’s a bug. From me it shows up as Supercharge app icon.

That is a pre-Tahoe issue. You can disable Hazel’s Finder extension to fix it. Go to System Settings->General->Login Items & Extensions.

Look for “Hazel - File Provider” under Extensions and disable it.

That indeed fixed it! Thanks.

In the Hazel 6.1 release notes (released today):

  • Worked around Apple bug which would cause Hazel’s icon to be shown for external drives in Finder’s sidebar. May still cause problems for items at the top level of drive if they are in the sidebar, in which case it is recommended that Hazel’s Finder extension be disabled in System Settings.
