I thought there may be those in the forum who would be interested in this update to the Ulysses app.
This is a massive update. It’s still the same app, just… better and even more beautiful than before.
Liquid Glass
- This version fully embraces Liquid Glass. We updated the app across the board, including but not limited to:
- The library, dashboard, Quick Open, toolbars, buttons, popovers for images, links, annotations, etc. etc.
- You can finally resize the dashboard (Mac and iPad).
- You can finally have sheet list AND dashboard open (iPad).
- The editor now has a large bottom inset (aka Overscroll), so the transitions from reading to editing and back are much smoother, especially when using the onscreen keyboard.
- You can now create new sheets from the Library (iPhone); these will either end up in your main Inbox or in “Project › Extras › Pending”.
- The iPhone on-screen keyboard gained a very prominent close button.
- We even updated the app icon to match the new look.
Menus macOS
- We reworked both the main menu and many context menus.
- Typewriter Mode is gone; you can now just activate the line marker or fixed scrolling or… leave it off.
- The Markup Bar is now either on or off (no more “automatic”).
- You can now auto-hide the toolbar in full screen.
- You can now select themes from the View menu.
- Markup menus for paragraph and text are now available via the editor context menu (yay!).
Revision Mode is just another tab macOS
- We moved our advanced text check (aka Revision Mode) into the main dashboard.
- You now simply activate the tab to initiate a check.
- The check will continue if you switch to another sheet.
- To end the check, just deselect the tab.
Editor Focus is now “Hide Interface”
- Hit CMD-. to get an editor-only view.
- Hit CMD-. again to show the rest of the interface.
- You’ll love this.
Swipe Gestures macOS
- Gestures now need to happen over the editor, otherwise they won’t work.
- Gestures are side-aware; swipe at the right side to show/hide the dashboard, for example.
Swipe Actions iOS
- We added swipe actions to both the library and the sheet list.
- A primary action specific to the current group or filter (such as “Reveal in Group”)
- A full contextual menu as secondary action.
Improved keyboard navigation
- We completely reworked keyboard navigation. Use…
- left/right arrows to switch between panes
- up/down to select groups and sheets
- Return to begin editing
- CMD-Return to end editing
- (There’s more, but you’ll figure it out.)
Share/import projects
- You can now share whole projects as a zipped archive.
- On Mac, Just drag a project to the Finder.
- To import a project, just drag it to your library.
- On iOS, open it via the Files app (or via AirDrop, which is kind of cool).
- This is a big deal, don’t sleep on it.
Copy for Substack and Basecamp
- You can now copy your texts for use on Substack and Basecamp.
- Most formatting is supported; some limitations apply (images won’t work).
- On Substack, we even support buttons (via raw source) and Spotify previews (via text links).
Theming
- We have added two options for editor themes.
- Quotes can have a large font size.
- Some outlines can be hidden.
- This resulted in TWO new default themes.
- D26 builds on the system palette and utilizes the new styling options.
- D26 Mono is a toned-down version for monospaced fonts.
App Intents
- We revamped our integration with Spotlight and the Shortcuts app. On macOS 26, actions can now be triggered directly from Spotlight. New actions include:
- “Find Sheet” and “Find Group”, with configurable filters.
- “Import File”, to convert any given text file into a sheet.
- “Search in Ulysses”, to open the in-app search with a pre-defined search term.
Other improvements
- Quick Open finds sheets and groups from archived projects.
- Quick Open respects the current appearance.
- Syntax highlight for Swift code snippets.
- New color for group icons and keywords: brown.
- Reworked the line width setting for iPad, allowing for a narrower text width in the editor.
- Search finds sheets and groups from archived projects.
Bugfixes
- Uploading images to WordPress for weird filenames.
- A rare case of missing footnotes in PDF export.
- Isues with copy & paste of code snippets.
- Some rendering issues for equations.
- The issue where the library trash would show trashed sheets from archived projects.
- The insertion of PDFs via the Shortcuts app.
- A bug where scroll bars would overlap the text of a footnote or annotation. macOS
- A crash in the share extension in certain library configurations. macOS
- A crash when quickly deleting image attachments. macOS
- A bug where the markup bar would insist to show up. macOS

- Ulysses launching into a blank screen when triggering the “Create Sheet” action (e.g. via Widgets or Control Center) iOS
- A bug where some app settings would be reset on launch.
- Puuuuuuuuuuuh…
