Finally upgraded my iPhone 13 mini to ios26 and was tinkering around with all the new features. I didn’t realize when you set a background for chats in the Messages app, it changes that background for everyone in the chat.
This is just default behavior? No way to customize the chat for just my devices?
I discovered that too. I thought only “my” background would change.
To me, this is one (and there are plenty to choose from) of the most bizarre UI decisions that was made in iOS 26. I honestly have no idea what the use case would be for wanting my background change to be reflected on the other person’s phone.
