Messages really slow to appear on Mac?

In my office I have my 17 Pro Max, M3 iPad Air, and M4 MacBook Air. All on the same wifi network (Eero) and all within a few feet of each other.

But for the last week or so, I often encounter a situation where I get a text/Messages message that appears more or less simultaneously on my iPad and iPhone. But won’t show up for a few minutes on my MBA. They all have the latest OS releases. I can’t think of anything I’ve changed on them except install recent OS updates.

WiFi is super strong, and 1GB internet to the house. MBA air has 24GB of RAM and is barely taxed. If I restart the Messages app the messages usually appear. I’ve rebooted the MBA several times. I’ve also gone into the Messages settings and hit sync. The only think I haven’t done is log out and back into iCloud. I have had iCloud messages enabled for a long time.

No error messages of any kind, just this odd behavior. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

This happens to me too. And messages may never appear on my Mac if it is sleeping when a message arrives. AFAIK, messages move from iPhone to iPad via WiFi. They move from iPhone to the Mac via iCloud.

Note: I don’t accept messages via email addresses.

Thanks, and it’s odd. Was working fine as long as I can remember until the last week or two. Maybe around the time of the most recent macOS update?

I can’t recall when I first noticed this behavior. My MacBook is a home server that provides local storage and runs backups. I don’t use it every day.

FYI, it is running macOS 15.7.4.

Okay, I turned off Cloud syncing, then reenabled it, and now it seems better LOL.

Who knows, messed up config or prefs file? Some log file got super long and this truncated it? I have no idea.

That’s usually the first thing I try :grinning:
