Messages to Android

I have searched this forum and the internet and the suggested solutions do not work. I used to be able to text from my iPad and MBP to non-phone users. The inter webs suggest several things and they are not working. Message forwarding is not available in settings and I have messages turned on in the cloud on all devices. I find it very inconvenient to have to text from my phone when I’m in the middle of working. Thoughts?

My iPhone developed the same problem. The following worked for me.

Thanks for the reply. I had read that very article but still couldn’t figure it out UNTIL, I realized I had to have one of my Apple ID addresses checked. I was signed in but always use my phone number so I had unchecked those. . Have my .me account selected all is working now!!
