Missing Messages in Android / iPhone Group Texts

Over the last year, I have had a problem that has increasingly gotten worse. I don’t think I can link it to any specific iOS update. I am in a couple of group chats that are mixed iPhone / Android users. At first, I would miss one Android message every now and then. I would usually know I had missed one because I would get a notification like, “[iPhone user in the group] liked the message, ‘[message from an Android user I hadn’t seen].’” At this point, I do not see any Android messages in groups that are iPhone / Android mixed. I do seem to be getting all my one-on-one texts from Android folks - at least, nobody is complaining that I’m not replying. The messages don’t come through on my iPhone, iPad, MBP, or iMac.

They see my texts in the group chats just fine. I have tried toggling RCS on and off, and that doesn’t seem to make a difference.

Anybody have any hints?

Thanks!

Check iPhone->settings->Messages->text message forwarding. Are all devices enabled? Are there any you aren’t using and can remove? Also check blocked contacts, anyone there that shouldn’t be? This happens to my wife a lot so i know how frustrating this can be!

Thanks… nothing in Settings seems amiss.

But it is a bit of a relief to know I’m not the only one dealing with this!

It “just works,” except when it doesn’t.

After a lot of DuckDuckGo-ing (and then using ChatGPT like a search engine), it sounds like I have to go into a Verizon store and have them check my MMS provisioning. The most convenient one is a franchise location, so I am not optimistic about that, but I will try sometime in the coming week. If I get any results, I will post them here.
