Moving Apple Custom Domain Email Addresses to Another ID

I’ve set up a custom domain for my email in my Apple account that I have shared with my family. I mistakenly set up one email address on my Apple ID intended for my wife. I promptly deleted it.

However, when attempting to set this email address on my wife’s account it says it’s in use with another Apple ID. A subreddit thread says you have to wait one year after deletion before being able to add the email address to another ID.

Can anyone confirm this?

You can only set domains up on one account. But you should be able to redirect an email address on a domain linked to your account to your wife’s icloud email address (not set it up on her account).
