Hi fellow musos. I have a stack of backing tracks in playlists on YouTube that I use for practicing improvised guitar solos. Playlist management in YouTube is a real pain and I’m looking for something to bring some more order to what is quickly becoming an unmanageable mess.
The videos fall into one of two main categories. The first are just backing tracks where I’d like to track:
- video name
- a link to the YouTube video
- key (Em , A etc)
- tempo (bpm)
- style (rock, blues etc)
- cover image (not essentially, but I tend to recognise these faster than the video name)
- maybe some kind of star/favourite indicator
The second set are specific songs or backing tracks in the style of a specific artist (eg. Pink Floyd E Dorian jam).
I reckon the following might work but I’m open to any suggestions:
- a spreadsheet - I could make filters / pivot tables to narrow the options down. This is probably my default option but I’m sure there is something better
- Play
- Air Table. I haven’t used this but it looks like it might do the job
- Obsidian??
I’d like to be able to get to the data from a Mac or iPad so the solution would need some kind of cloud sync.
What do you reckon?
