I recently submitted a feature request to the developers of iA Writer. I received an encouraging reply, but of course, no promises. Below is the feature request I sent. I’m hoping something comes from my request.
I often like to see an outline of longer articles. The Split View on Mac works well for this when not in scrolling preview mode. I would like to narrow the preview panel so that I have more room in the editor. Is this something you would consider adding as an option? I would like to grab a handle between the two panels and adjust the width, similar to the Split View function on an iPad.
Please let us know when the blog post is done, so we can enjoy it, @Bmosbacker . And of course, the book as well, though I assume that is a little ways off still.
The “document outline” feature is fantastic! Both on the Mac and on iOS. Here’s an example screenshot of the document outline in action on the Mac. This is a wonderful new feature that makes iA Writer much more robust and useable for me. To “activate” this feature on a Mac use command-shift-O (the letter, not the number). Slightly different activation sequence on iOS: click on the magnifying glass at bottom left of screen (keyboard hidden) or just above keyboard if it is active. You can use up/down arrow keys or type in beginning letters of header you want to scroll to.
