I keep Overcast around because I can export the MP3s of episodes for long term retention. (American Public Media just gives away classical music via podcast every day for people’s libraries). Apple makes finding the MP3 file in a Post iTunes world a cumbersome process. But after getting a modded iPod Classic, I am back to Apple Podcasts.
Can anyone tell me what this icon is on this Overcast screenshot? It’s the “plus” in the diamond next to the episode number. I’m not sure I’ve seen it before, and I can’t find it in others.

The 2026.8.1 update is now finally live in the App Store! (Apple’s review process took an entire week again.)
The main changes:
- Episode limits are no longer strict. The old system is back, where episodes you’ve manually added are never deleted.
- Manually-added episodes are now marked with a plus sign in a diamond if they’re in a podcast with an episode limit.

Ha! Thanks; this is what I get for not reading release notes, I guess. What’s weird, though, is that I’m pretty sure I didn’t manually download that one. I think it was downloaded yesterday after it was released and when I didn’t have any other episodes of that particular show.
