New Pro Music Notation App for iPad

Since I know there’s a lot of overlap between music nerds and Mac/iPad nerds, I thought I’d share this here. Steinberg just today released Dorico for iPad. If you’re not familiar with Dorico, it’s their professional music notation app. It’s younger than Finale and Sibelius, so perhaps less well known, but I really like it.

If you’re curious, I did a full review on Scoring Notes along with a video overview. Here’s the App Store link, since search is a little weird (bad).

There are other music notation apps available for iPad, but this is the only one that is currently capable of professional-quality output…at least for the next 24 hours or so. Avid has been teasing a big announcement tomorrow, and it’s looking more and more like it will be Sibelius for iPad. It’s a good time to be a pro musician on the iPad!
