New series of Ted Lasso

I hope that Ted Lasso will return to Apple TV. I’ve been waiting for news of a new season for ages. It’s been one of my favorite TV shows of all time, and I’m happy at least some of the original cast will return, too.

Finally, a reason to subscribe to AppleTV+ again. At least for a month or two.

I’m also not subscribed. It would make me do the same!

I hope this is good. My concern is it’s another Scrubs S9 where Lawrence wants to spin off and the money wants to do another season of the hit show. (Yes, I realize this is the top comment on this news everywhere, but, still concerned!)

This is the EXACT thing I thought of when I read the news.

I thought they’d wrapped the third season at a very logical (and final) point. Almost to the point where it wouldn’t make sense to even attempt a fourth season.

Looks like it will be Ted Lasso without Ted Lasso (Sudeikis). I really don’t see the point. But I’ve got Apple One so will watch at least S4E1.

Agree. Love that show, but they should leave it be.

The Journalist has taken the easy route with the narrative.

I think that the more likely scenario is some form of continuation, but not Ted Lasso season 4, rather some form of Spin off in the same universe. You could imagine a series at Richmond FC (Hence Hannah Waddingham and Jeremy Swift. Maybe Roy as the coach with Beard (who stayed in London) as the assistant Coach and Juno Temple involved.

Let’s hope it’s more Frasier than Joey in it’s quality and success.

It’s been a while since I watched S3, but I feel like when it was wrapping that was either hints in S3 or baseless rumours that there was potential for a spinoff based around a women’s team. I think that would be a good approach.

Some of the most iconic UK TV series ran for a short length and then finished, many of these series had 6 episodes a season too, not 22.

Examples include Fawlty Towers, The (UK) office, Fleabag, Life on Mars (Although the sequel series Ashes to Ashes was good), Sherlock, Broadchurch, and Spaced.

Others went for too long and the quality really deteriorated, e.g. Coupling season 4, Red Dwarf after season 5, Spooks after season 4.

I think that they should leave it as is, but Apple has all of the money.

I was so tired of Ted Lasso’s continuing spiral into melodrama by the end of S3. I’m ok with this if they can make it funny again. Just keep the focus on Roy and Waddington and I think they’re fine, so long as it’s funny.

Ted Lasso appears to still be the second most popular show on ATV+ and Apple is looking for subscribers.

Feels like Futurama 20 years ago all over again for me. It was wrapped up nicely and given a proper sendoff. Why does it need to come back? The story has been told.

As long as there is money to be made. We’ve watched 11 seasons of The Curse of Oak Island. History Channel is making plenty of money off of that, and not a single piece of treasure has been found.
