Every time I look at the Apple iPad keyboard my head explodes a little. I have the Logitech version for my 12.9 that I don’t like because of the weight. I’m curious to hear about what Bluetooth keyboards are being used that are not connected as cases or stands. Thanks y’all✌️
For my 2020 11" iPad Air, I have a cheap non-keyboard case from Amazon, just an imitation smart magnetic case that does the trick just fine.
I use the MX Keys Mini on my Mac and iPad (it has the quick switch profiles for 3 connected devices). I also travel with its older sibling the Logitech K811 which isn’t made anymore, I think. Both are wonderful. I don’t think I’d ever be tempted to shell out for the Apple keyboard case – if anything I like to be able to separate the screen and keyboard as suits me.
I have been using the Logitech Combo Touch for about a year. I keep the keyboard detached when not in use. I attach it when I need it or when the iPad is being stored in a bag or backpack.
It does add some bulk and weight to the iPad, but it is sturdy and does work well.
Currently, I use the now-defunct Smart Folio keyboard. Prior to this, I used a red Logitech Keys-to-Go rubber banded around my iPad Air 1. My main requirement was that it was small and light. It had media keys, was waterproof, and the battery lasted forever. Lot of people don’t like feel of typing on this. It was fine for me.
EDIT: This post sent me down a rabbit hole. A may get this at some point:
Probably not the usual answer, but I use a keychron mechanical keyboard – mainly with my iPhone when producing text (why keep a large screen and an inferior keyboard instead of a great keyboard and a small screen if all I want is to type away?). I also use that with my iPad if for some reason I need an external keyboard on it.
For maximum portability I also have an extremely thin and lightweight Logitech Keyboard that I don’t know the name of right now. Typing isn’t to great on it but it vanishes in your pocket like a sheet of paper.
I love my Logitech K380s. Thin, light, instant switching between 3 devices, 3 year battery life, and very durable and reliable in my experience. Highly recommended if you don’t need it to attach to your iPad.
I use an Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and a Magic Trackpad that I tuck into a Hermitshell Hard Travel Case when I need to take them with me or they’re not going to be used for a bit. For the iPad itself (11-inch iPad Pro M2) I use a Zugu Case that’s magnetic—I can either set it up freestanding or magnetize it to the fridge, plus it has a nice holder for the Apple Pencil.
Great stuff! Thank you for your responses so far
