I’d like to get VIP email notifications at all times and specific work email notifications by person during work focus mode.
Ex. CEO email would come to me anytime, but emails from colleagues would only come through during work focus.
I swear I have tried every notification setting from focus modes, allowed people, mail, etc but seem to get either only VIP or all mail. Thoughts on what I may be missing?
When you are not in any focus mode, you can’t apply any filters. Well, you can, but those filters are global and apply all the time; they can’t be turned off by a focus mode. Therefore, all filters you want to control with a focus mode must be associated with a focus mode and you must be in a focus mode anytime you want to apply those filters. It seems that Apple has given the personal focus mode special status. If you set one up, it will become the default when you other focus modes are off.
Based on the behavior you have indicated that you desire, you will need to set up at least 2 focus modes, work and personal. Ensure personal is activated whenever work is deactivated. Then in your personal focus mode silence all email, but create an exception for your VIPs. In our work focus mode silence all email, but create an exception for each person you want to allow through.
That last bit is why I prefer multiple email accounts. Then you could just enable the work email account and let everything in that account through in the work focus mode.
Thanks for this. In this example then personal would have email enabled but with only VIPs in the people allowed section for email purposes and the work focus would have email enabled and what to get all of those notifications? That is where I’m getting hung up I think.
No email is silenced (not enabled) except for those you want to let through.
