Notion vs Craft.do

It probably falls into two categories - motivation, which is fully my issue..

And security. Apps like Bear can be locked down with FaceID while, to my knowledge, Drafts does not, due to the core function of it (capture text with no friction).

Handling images is also something that Bear, etc. handles while Drafts is not fully there yet…I know some features were recently released to this effect.

Bear’s price point for an annual sub ( ~$15) is not an issue when I look at all the other subs I have to have but going up to the ~$50 range for Craft et al for essentially a prettier version of the same functionality becomes hard to justify.

I think saying that Craft is a prettier version of drafts is really selling the capabilities of Craft extremely short. It’s fine if it doesn’t work for you, but Craft is much more than that, and Drafts is much more than Craft. They’re simply two different apps and that’s ok.

Was actually referring to Craft vs Bear, but no matter…fair point. I did not mean to minimize the feature sets of any of the products.

The broader point that I did not articulate well is that what I get out of Bear works for me at that $15 price point and spending more $$ on Craft, when I likely wouldn’t be using the additional feature/functions that Craft may offer, didn’t make sense to me.

Craft has an infinitely better security and privacy model than Notion. Notion’s privacy policy essentially allows them to do anything with your data, but promises not to. Notion had also recently modified their privacy policy to allow them to sell page metadata.

Their employees are even able to see your pages, if they were malicious enough to do so. There is no end-to-end encryption, which should be the bare minimum nowadays in terms of security.

Notion’s privacy policy has been criticized several times over and over again by the community with very little feedback or response from the company:

Also, where’s offline mode!? This feature has been promised for over 3 years without delivery.

I am in similar situation. Bear works fine for my very basic needs. I also did not realise that Bear can actually do more than simple Markdown writing. There are a lot of extra function that I did not know are there. I should spend more time checking out this great app
