Obsidian adds a web viewer to core product

Obsidian 1.8, currently available for Catalyst members (aka “insiders”) includes a new web viewer. It’s useful for staying inside the app when opening web links next to one’s notes. Should be public soon, I imagine.

  • Web viewer, a new core plugin, lets you open external links within Obsidian. This simplifies reading linked content without leaving the app and makes multitasking on web research projects easier. This plugin is disabled by default, and needs to be enabled manually in settings.

This has been very useful to me and has made Obsidian a more productive environment . I can have ChatGPT or a blog page in a tab or split view while I work.

The Adblock doesn’t seem to work particularly well, but that will presumably be addressed soon.
