Obsidian vs DEVONthink My 2 Buckets Curtis McHale

I appreciate Curtis’s take on things. I’m passing this along as it may be of interest to others. I realize this is two years old. If this has been posted previously, my apologies. I searched for it on the forum but did not turn up anything.

He makes good points about DEVONthink’s automation, I use that a lot! The ability to capture in one format and convert to others for processing or archival is another feature I use regularly.

Where DEVONthink lacks a bit is in writing and editing — you can do that, but it’s not designed as a writing app. The good news is that it can easily share information with other apps through indexed folders.

I think a lot of people are trying to do all the things with just one app, and while it’s doable it may not be the best use of your time and energy. I’m definitely leaning towards making full use of the apps I have for the things that they excel at, but not siloing data and making it possible to work in it in multiple ways.
