There hasn’t been an Obsidian vs post in a while…
For those of you who’ve used both Octarine and Obsidian are there any notable differences you’ve found? Other than plugins.
For context, I’m looking at note taking apps that give me a strong degree of OS freedom (mainly something that I could swap over to Linux easily).
I mostly use (or more accurately, used) Obsidian for daily notes, Kanban boards and taking notes on projects. This isn’t for professional work.
I think the most notable two differences between Octarine and Obsidian is that Octarine uses a daily notes calendar system like noteplan does and the other is that there aren’t any plug-ins and hopefully never will be.
Some people can handle the complexity and some people desire simplicity.
FWIW I’ve got a shared Obsidian vault for the folks working on the AnimalTrakker® project. We cover 2 flavors of Windows, several Linux systems and a couple of Macs. Obsidian works very well on all of them. So no need to swap to something else, especially if you are already using Obsidian.
