I was just about to pull the trigger on Reeder and thought I’d look at open source options one last time.
I had looked several times before with little luck. Lots of cross-platform stuff, where the mac was afterthought.
Then I stumbled across Vienna and so far it has exceeded my expectations.
Initial thoughts and observations:
- Native Mac app written in Objective-C & Swift.
- Active project with regular updates.
- Nice modern interface with extensive preferences.
- Easy to install as an .app file or via Homebrew.
- XML based plugin system.
- Open Source License under Apache 2.0.
- No corporate entity or premium features requiring any type of purchase or subscription.
