Outlook 16 for Mac

I wonder if anyone else has had this problem: I use Outlook for Mac for my email, with both an Exchange and an iCloud account. The Exchange account is fine, but I am getting an “Authentication Failed” message on opening the app that Mail on the iCloud account “could not be received at this time.” I reenter the password repeatedly to no effect.

Can anyone help or offer a suggestion?

Could it have something to do with the App Specific password?

It is definitely an app-specific password. You cannot access iCloud email without an app-specific password in Outlook.

Log into your AppleID account at appleid.apple.com, create the password there, and use it to log into that account in Outlook.
