PairPods - New macOS utility for sharing audio between Bluetooth devices

Hello MPU team,

I’ve recently released a new free, open-source utility called PairPods that I thought might interest Mac Power Users listeners. PairPods solves a specific Mac workflow problem: enabling audio sharing between two Bluetooth devices simultaneously.

While iOS has had audio sharing capabilities for years, macOS has lacked this feature, making it difficult to share an audio experience with someone else. PairPods addresses this with a simple menubar app that requires just a single click to activate.

The app is designed with MPU’s audience in mind - it’s lightweight (~1.5MB), requires zero configuration, and adheres to the “do one thing well” philosophy. It works with any Bluetooth audio devices supported by macOS (AirPods, other headphones, or speakers) and maintains full audio quality without introducing latency.

I built PairPods because I frequently found myself wanting to watch content with others while traveling or in quiet spaces. I’ve made the app completely free and open-source under an MIT license.

PairPods requires macOS Sonoma (14.0) or later and works on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.

I’d be happy to provide more details or discuss the development process if this might be of interest for a feedback segment or app pick.
