Photo Sharing for an event

We’re having a family party in April and we’d like to be able to setup one place for everyone to be easily able to upload photos to and also be able to see everyone’s photos.

There will be a mixture of iPhone and Android phones and if possible I’d like to maintain all of the EXIF data.

I may consider Apple Invite, but does anyone have any other suggestions please?

Instructions for computer, android, and iOS are included.

There is a 20,000 photo limit.

I’ve ended up using Google Drive (not photos) for this in the past. Even setup a short link to make it really easy to load for people.

That’s the only way I know of to provide a shared space to upload files that probably won’t require everyone to make a new account and preserves file size and EXIG data.

I recently setup Immich for this purpose and it worked really well. If you are not into hosting it yourself, you can use a service like PikaPods to run it for you.

I created an album with a public link and then shared that with the group, worked great.

Interesting!! I’d looked at Immich in the past but decided that convincing people to download a new app and create an account + pointing at my self hosted url would be too high a barrier.

Is it simpler than that? The thing that excites me about Immich is it could make saving all files to your photo library way easier.

Yeah, no one needed an account. I just shared the link and enabled the album to allow “public” uploads. They don’t need an app even, they could just upload via the web interface. Worked like a champ.

I use iCloud Photo Library for storing my photos but this is a good solution for sharing and collecting that works better across all platforms.
