I re-read this article by David Smith and I’d like to try this, but I don’t use Photoshop and am not wanting to take on a subscription for something I’ll use occasionally on the Mac.

Does anyone have recommendations for Photo Editing software which will stitch together multiple shots please?
Affinity Photo 2 can do this. It’s a very capable image editor. The v2 family is now at 2.6 and still a pay-once license between major releases. v3.x will be a paid upgrade when that rolls around, according to the company, but of course… Canva bought Serif a year or so ago, so let’s see if current management feel compelled to keep the suite’s USP.
It’s not something I do very often, but I recently had the same need to stitch a few photos together.
I used this free tool and it worked fine for my needs.
I did this in the past using Hugin (talking 2008 I believe after I walked the Pennine Way), which still appears to be being updated!
