Very often when I plug my iPhone into CarPlay and start a podcast that I’ve been listening to, it starts at a very different position than where I was when I paused it. Often times it’ll go back to the beginning of the episode instead of halfway through. I’ve seen this happen with Apple podcast app and Overcast.
Yes, I have occasionally seen this with Overcast (Sorry I have never used Apple Podcasts). In each instance, the failure was attributed to the fact that I did not have good signal and therefore Overcast could not sync my location with the server. In fact, usually it wouldn’t go all the way back to the beginning, but only to wherever I was listening the last time I had decent signal.
Yes. It does happen to me most of the time when I am listening to a podcast on HomePods - and sometimes in other circumstances. When I resume the podcast on the iPhone (no matter if via CarPlay or not), it is a betting game, whether the position will be correct or not.
Mostly: not.
And no, I have no solution. This is one of those things where stuff just does not work (for me).
I’ve never used CarPlay, but I normally listen with Apple Podcasts on my iPad Air, via AirPods, when at home, and my iPhone in the car. And I will occasionally find that my iPhone hasn’t synced with the iPad unless I have closed the Podcast app on my iPad.
I was never able to get Overcast to sync at all. I might have been doing something wrong, but now prefer the transcripts available with AP.
