Printer staying in dock after print job finishes

When printing in macOS, the printer used to appear in the dock while the job was being processed, and then close/leave the dock after it was complete.

At some point in the Big Sur era, these seems to have changed, such that the printer remains in the dock and “open” (i.e. has a dot under it’s icon) until manually closed.

Does anybody know why this is happening and if I can get the auto-close/quit behavior back?

Has done this to me too since I upgraded to 11.6 - I assume I’ll get fixed in 12.0…

Same here using HP printers. Hoping that it gets fixed in the next MacOS.

Same here. Canon printer.

Thought it was me. Apparently it’s Apple. :frowning:

Same here. I don’t like it.

I’ve got the same thing.

I don’t know if it’s also an 11.6 bug, but I can no longer empty my trash from the Dock trash icon. I have to open the Trash folder in Finder and click the Empty button.

I don’t have the trash bug. I can still right click on the trash in the dock to empty it.
