Printing Apple notes - Can't change font from grey to black?

Just noticed a quirk with Apple Notes.

If I actually try to print (simple text note, no embedded data), it prints in a light grey font instead of black on my monochrome laser printer.

Did some Googling, and apparently Apple in their “we know best and don’t tell you” sets the font to grey even though it looks black on the screen and the simplistic text formatting available in Apple Notes does not allow changing the font color to a true black.

Other than gyrations like moving the test into another app and formatting as desired, is there an easy solution?

I just highlight the text, right click, choose Font, Show Colors, and choose Black. It prints nice and dark on my printer.

I just tried this and it works well!

Sorry, I forgot to say this is Notes on iOS, not Mac.

Color selection for fonts doesn’t seem to have black as a choice?
